The Capitol City is home to the Annual Texas Round-Up 10K, 5K and Family Mile. Through the City of Austin's Physical Education program many city employees train and participate in the Texas Round-Up events each year. The program is volunteer driven and includes employees in all 25 city departments.

In 2004 the City of Austin and Mayor Will Wynn created the Mayor's Fitness Council to support and inspire people to improve their fitness by encouraging physical activity and improved nutrition. Click here for more information about the Mayor's Fitness Council.
