The Old Food Pyramid
With our busy lives and so many food choices, it can be hard to know what is healthy to eat and what isn't. Plus, there simply is no "one-size-fits-all" plan for nutrition.
You may remember the old food pyramid, with 6 to 11 servings of bread; 2 to 4 servings and fruit; etc. The old food pyramid didn't always address our unique dietary needs.
To address the problem, the United States Department of Agriculture made some changes.
The New Food Pyramid
You might be surprised to learn how much the food pyramid has changed. With MyPyramid, The United States Department of Agriculture completely revised the old food pyramid and outlined an approach that can help you create a personalized food pyramid to suit your own needs.
MyPyramid.gov can help you identify just how many calories you need and the amount of physical activity it takes to keep everything in balance.
